Occupational Certificate: Early Childhood Development Practitioner Level 4

  • Compile detailed reports on each child's progress to inform further learning and development.

  • Promote the health, nutrition, safety, and overall well-being of children, maintaining a safe and nurturing environment.

Entry Requirements:

  • National Certificate Vocational (NCV) at NQF Level 3,  or

  • Any other NQF Level 3 qualification.

  • (SAQA equivalency is required for non-South African qualifications.)

  7. Administration for ECD Services and Programmes

Practical Skills Modules (43 credits):

  1. Planning and Preparing Inclusive Educational Activities and Routines based on an approved curriculum framework

  2. Facilitating and Mediating Active Learning in an Integrated, Holistic Programme

  3. Observing, Assessing, Recording, and Reporting on Children’s Progress

  4. Supporting and Promoting Health, Nutrition, Safety, and Well-being in Children

  5. Building and Maintaining Collaborative Relationships with Parents and Service Providers

  6. Preparing and Maintaining Administrative Systems

Work Experience Modules (45 credits):

  1. Planning and Preparing Learning Programmes and Routines

  2. Facilitating and Mediating Learning in Various Contexts

  3. Observing, Assessing, Recording, and Reporting on Children’s Development

  4. Promoting Health, Nutrition, Safety, Protection, and Well-being in ECD Settings

Assessment Overview:

Students must complete the following assessments:

  • 7 Formative Assessments

  • 7 Controlled Summative Assessments

  • 6 Practical Assessments

  • 4 Workplace Assessments

  • 1 External Integrated Summative Assessment (EISA)

Eligibility for the External Integrated Summative Assessment (EISA):

The EISA is conducted by the QCTO. To qualify, students must:

  • Submit a completed and signed Statement of Work Experience

  • Provide proof of successful completion of both the Knowledge and Practical Skills Modules, typically in the form of a combined Statement of Results.

Certification:

Upon successful completion of the EISA, students will be awarded the Occupational Certificate: Early Childhood Development Practitioner from the QCTO.
