CURRICULUM AND ASSESSMENT POLICY STATEMENT
At Amitek High School we offer the ( CAPS ) curriculum for students in Grades 8 to 12. This nationally recognized curriculum is designed to provide a rigorous, comprehensive and balanced education that equips learners with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in further education, the workplace and life.
As per the South African Schools Act, No. 84 of 1996, the medium of instruction at the school is English, which aligns with the legal framework governing the language of instruction in South African schools. The Act outlines that the language of learning and teaching (LoLT) is to be determined by the governing body of the school and we have chosen English as the primary language to ensure accessibility, consistency and global competence.
Our educators are not only highly qualified but also SACE registered, meaning they are officially accredited by the South African Council for Educators (SACE) ensuring that they meet the professional standards set by the council. The teachers at our school are experienced, passionate and committed to delivering the best education possible, fostering an environment where students can thrive academically and personally.
